The sale of Lakeside Farm Industries Ltd. from Tyson Foods, Inc. to XL Foods Inc., a privately held Alberta corporation with beef packing facilities located in Alberta, Saskatchewan, Nebraska, and Idaho, is complete as of March 2009.
“We are excited to have Lakeside as part of the XL Organization and just as excited to repatriate the ownership of a large part of the Canadian beef packing business to Canadian ownership,” said Brian Nilsson, Co-CEO of XL. “We would also like to commend those employees, both XL and Lakeside employees, for their hard work and patience while the necessary approvals were acquired.”
XL will continue to work with Canadian producers and the numerous other stakeholders in the cattle business to enhance value for the Canadian cattle industry.
